For Making

 You Look Older

Habits that make you look older The process of ageing differs from person to person. Some tend to age faster than their biological age in comparison to others that look refreshingly younger always. This ageing process is often dependent on your lifestyle, dietary habits and environment and all the other habits that you maintain every day.

Habits that may be responsible for making you look older

Bad sleeping habits

Your body needs to reinvigorate itself every day and for this to happen, you need to make sleep a priority. While everyone's sleep requirements are different, seven to eight hours of fitful sleep is required daily.

Having a sweet tooth

Anything in excess is never good, especially when you're not exactly sweet sixteen always. diet with an overt emphasis on sugar will only add to your waistline. Its end products tend to damage the collagen and the elastin, leading to saggy and wrinkly skin

Smoking

It is a known fact that is damaging to your health, but it also speeds up ageing. Its harmful chemicals deprive your cells of oxygen leading to a pale appearance. They also break down the collagen in the skin, once again leading to wrinkly skin.

Drinking

Being a natural diuretic , alcohol causes dehydration . This robs your skin of its natural moisture, making you look much older. It also rids your body of Vitamin A and C that are antioxidants important for making your skin look supple and well hydrated.

Exposure to sun rays

Sun rays only do more harm to your skin than good. Exposure to its ultra-violet rays (UV rays) can weaken your blood cells which can make your skin look leathery. It can lead to pigmentation of skin as well. Sagging and wrinkling follow.

Not enough veggies

Veggies are essential antioxidants that help you look youthful, but they only last for so long and must be replenished daily. It is important to take care of your body and small changes to your everyday routine can go a long way to slow that ageing process and make you look your age- young and refreshing.

Christmas would be incomplete without a delicious Christmas plum cake. This lovely cake is rich in fresh and dried fruits and is soaked in brandy or orange liquor. Preparations for this cake often start a month before Christmas as the fruits are cut and soaked in alcohol until it is time to bake them.

Here are some extremely interesting and engrossing facts about this Plum Cake / Christmas Fruit Cake.

It has a really long shelf life

Christmas cake or fruitcake can last for months and years. This may be because of the alcohol content in the cake. Many families keep aside a part of the Christmas cake to be eaten during Easter. The longevity of this cake is also why it is the perfect packed food for hunters and travellers.

It is packed with energy

Christmas cake has a high ratio of fruits to flour and hence is packed with nutrients. On the flip side, this isn’t a cake you want to snack on as it can also increase your waistline.

Naturally dried fruits are the key to a good Christmas cake

Christmas cake is said to be an acquired taste. However, the key to make a good Christmas cake is to avoid glazed and candied fruits and instead use naturally sweetened and dried fruits. This makes the cake healthier and much more wholesome.

You can put any fruit into Christmas cake

Christmas fruit cake is an all inclusive cake. A Christmas cake can be made with fresh fruits, dried fruits or a mixture of the two. However, fresh fruit cake has a shorter life span than dried fruit cake.

It gets better with time

Like wine, Christmas cake ages and tastes better with time. Christmas cake can also be revived, if it has dried out. For this, all you have to do is, steam the cake and drizzle a little more alcohol over it.

It is a very old recipe

Christmas cake is said to date back to the Roman empire. The Romans used a mixture of pine nuts, barley, raisins, sweetened wine and pomegranate seeds to make a version of the Christmas cake known as satura. However, it was only in the 16th century that it gained popularity.

The origins of Christmas cake lies in a meat pie

Christmas cake has evolved from the plum pudding. This plum pudding was originally a pie of mixed minced meats and fruits. With time, the meat was removed and only the fruits remained. Later, spice and dried fruits were added to the recipe to give us a modern day Christmas cake.

Christmas cake was traditionally not eaten on Christmas day

Christmas cake was originally eaten on the twelfth day of Christmas. For this reason, it was also known as the twelfth night cake.

Breathe in and breathe out, is an involuntary continuous action through which the human body receives the oxygen it requires for proper functiong. Without oxygen, our entire circulatory system would collapse. However, with the amount of pollutants present in the air today, the air we breathe is not as pure as it should be. Instead of breathing in oxygen, we’re breathing in harmful gases like carbon monoxide and sulphur dioxide along with particulate matter. Prolonged exposure to pollutants like this can seriously endanger our health and well-being. Air pollution spreads easily and the only way to protect oneself from it is by creating a barrier that filters the air we breathe in.

And, for this reason it is advisable that one should wear a respirator or mask. When wearing a mask or respirator the most important part is to ensure that it seals your nose and mouth effectively. Otherwise, pollutants can enter through the gaps and contaminate the filtered air. But how should one decide, which type of mask is suitable for them and for that we need to understand what all masks are available.
