Science has documented that fizzy drinks can pack on the pounds, hurt your heart and even increase your risk of some versions of cancer. But debate continues about diet colas.

The American Heart Association issued an advisory last year saying that short-term use of low-calorie artificially sweetened drinks to replace sugary ones "may be an effective strategy " to promote weight loss in adults.

One recent study even found that diet beverages might save lives. A survey of 1,018 patients with stage III colon cancer showed that those who consumed at least one 350-ml serving of a low-calorie drink daily were nearly 50 per cent less likely to see their cancer recur or to die during the 7.3 year follow-up period, compared with those who mostly abstained from diet drinks. The researchers also found that the more diet colas people drank, the better their chances of survival. On the other hand, a new study of more than 80,000 post menopausal women found that those who consumed two or more artificially sweetened beverages each day were 31 percent more likely to have a clot-rank based or ischaemic stroke, 29 percent more likely to have a heart disease and 16 percent likely to die from any cause than women who drank diet beverages less than once a week or not at all.

Hey Everyone!,

Sports Talks

Should They Be Banned

In Offices ?

The vast majority of companies place a large premium on creating an inclusive environment in which all employees feel welcomed and comfortable.
This is an admirable and lofty goal, as achieving it is not always easy. There is an array of big issues and everyday occurrences that need to be discussed.

On BBC Radio 4’s Today, guest Ann Francke, the CEO of United Kingdom-based Chartered Management Institute, which offers services relative to human resources issues (including talent management, employee engagement and managing change), asserted that discussing soccer, cricket and other sports in the workplace have led to women feeling left out at the office.
She claimed that the constant chatter about sports ultimately leads to locker-room banter. This, in turn, can create an uncomfortable climate, as the male employees start “slapping each other on the back and talking about their conquests [on] the weekend.”
Francke did not demand a boycott of sports talk, but thought it prudent to discourage and tamp down on these conversations and make an attempt to push for more inclusive talk. A lively debate erupted in which some people considered these remarks sexist, considering that many women enjoy participating in or spectating sports and discussing it at the office.

Some people fear that this type of idea furthers the “cancel culture” trend. If you’re unfamiliar with the term, it refers to a form of boycott in which a person, celebrity, television show or movie is deemed offensive and a mob mentality pushes to shut it down.

Concerns were raised that limiting speech at work becomes a slippery slope. It's no secret that, in these politically charged times, some people are self-censoring themselves over concerns that they may lose a job or become ostracized. Others openly espouse their views, which alienates and offends the people around them.
Bev Shah, the founder and CEO of City Hive, a self-described network for change, says  “water-cooler moments” discussing a variety of interests helps enhance a company’s culture and fosters working relationships. She added, “There should be a cultural contract in the workplace where colleagues are mindful of the intensity, volume and duration of the conversations they are having—this goes for any topic.”

Sports journalist Jacqui Oatley said it would be a “terrible idea” to crack down on office sports talk. She told the Today program, “If you ban football [American soccer] chat or banter of any description, then all you’re going to do is alienate the people who actually want to communicate with each other.” Oatley added, “It would be so, so negative to tell people not to talk about sports because girls don’t like it or women don’t like it, that’s far more divisive.”
The questions arise as to what types of conversations should be policed—if any. If married people discuss their children, will that make single employees or those who don’t—or can’t—have kids feel isolated? If politics, religion or the economy is raised, will that set off red flags and create ill will?
This becomes a very delicate subject with serious ramifications. If free speech is limited or clamped down upon, employees will feel insulted and angry that their opinions are silenced. In today’s politically charged environment, some people are afraid to offer their thoughts and opinions out of fear of retaliation or harsh judgement. If too much free speech is permitted, workers can feel targeted if they are in the minority. Either way, it may create a toxic culture and alienate a segment of the workforce.
It could be a Herculean task for management and human resources to set restrictive guidelines of what can be said and what’s not deemed permissible to talk about. By trying to be inclusive, it may have unintended consequences.

Francke said, "They don't follow those sports and they don't like either being forced to talk about them or not being included."
Hope you enjoy reading this;)

Know Where Does The Best Inspiration Come From

Hey Everyone!,

Know Where Does The Best

Inspiration Come From

It's easy to spend all day searching for inspiration. You can find incredible videos, articles, and news stories, and email them out to all of your friends. But the best (and longest lasting) type of inspiration comes from applying those outside bits of motivation to your own goals.
Make no mistake: it's important to be a learner. Successful people in all fields soak up new information. They find inspiration and motivation in the work and success of others.
But here's the problem: consuming the success and ideas of others is passive inspiration. Every time you watch a video, read an article, or listen to an interview, you're practicing passive inspiration. You might learn something, but you don't actually have to do anything. Hearing about other people's success isn't the same thing as creating your own.

Instead, it is through the process of active inspiration — the act of creating things, applying new ideas to our goals, and making mistakes — that we discover who we are and what is important to us. Furthermore, active inspiration is what results in long—term passion and enthusiasm. Watching someone else's success might leave you feeling excited for a few minutes, but taking action and applying a new idea to your life will inspire you more than anything someone else could say.

Learning and listening can help you think about things in a different way, but creating, producing, and experimenting is what propels you forward. Passive inspiration can give you ideas, but active inspiration will give you momentum

The Best Inspiration is Application

The inspiration is not the receiving of information. The inspiration is applying what you’ve received.
—Derek Sivers

If you come across a good idea, use it. We spend so much time trying to find more inspirational things to consume that it can be easy for us to forget that the best form of inspiration comes from what we create.
It's about stumbling across a brilliant idea and bringing it to life in your work. It's about finding a new strategy and applying it your own goals. It's about learning a new exercise and adding it to your workout. The application of ideas will always be more powerful than the ideas themselves.

Too often we spend our lives consuming the world around us instead of creating it. Sure, there is some motivation in other people's ideas, but don't forget about the power your actions have to inspire you. The best inspiration comes from the application of ideas, not the consumption of them.

Hope you enjoy reading this;)

In this article, the focus is to help you bring some changes in mental, physical and spiritual areas. Of course, you need not do all of them in one go. Take it slow and see what helps you and what modifications you need based on your preference.

So let’s go one by one from one area to another:

Physical Area

Exercise

Begin your day with exercise. Now that we have a wide range such as aerobics, zumba, yoga, gym, pilates. You may choose the one that interests you the most because if you don’t like it, you procrastinate it all the time. So, go for trials, read, ask your friends, and figure out a way you would like to take it up. It doesn’t have to be at the beginning of your day but anytime you find yourself rocking on the chair for way too long, just stand up and move yourself a little bit. Movement not only keeps you away from feeling tired or lethargic but keeps your brain active.

Play frequently

Go back to reminiscing the good old times, when you would wait for Sundays to go to the park and play. How happy it would make you feel and made you spontaneous. Playing gives you a dopamine rush. And if in case if you were one of those indoor players, don’t worry, instead start looking for your board games or video games. It has amazing benefits such as increasing your concentration levels, enhances problem-solving, kills boredom, improves memory and stimulates the growth of cerebral cortex.

Add colours to your meals

Adding colours to meals does not mean adding synthetic colours but a wide variety of veggies, fruits, cereals of different colours and varieties in your meals. Why add colours? The reason is simple, each colour has its own benefits for instance beetroot is rich in iron, similarly, eggplant is rich in potassium.

Moving on to the Psychological Area

Stress

Stress can become debilitating when it comes to the cognitive functioning of any individual. It disrupts your functioning, thus it is essential to control stress. You must have experienced high levels of stress at some point in your life. Prolonged states of high stress can sometimes lead to shutting down. Alongside, it has an adverse effect on the other areas as well such as a decrease in sleep, appetite, processing information, memory to name a few. However, if stress is too low, most often one tends to procrastinate, decreases productivity. Therefore, an optimal level of stress enhances your productivity.

Stop replaying the past

One of the biggest mistakes that you keep doing is replaying the past. When you keep digging into the negative past events and replay it thousand of times, it wounds you. It is essential to pick on the hurts and stop digging deep into them because they will only harm and be of no good to you. Instead, let go of them and reminisce the events from the past which gives you happiness and makes you feel better about who you are.
Positive affirmations

No one will come and tell you that you are doing a good job, you have to take that initiative for yourself because being happy is a do-it-yourself project. And it depends on you how you do it. Make a list of all the good you have done in your day, feel good about yourself. It not only helps in reducing stress but also boosts your self-esteem
Spiritual Area

The spiritual area doesn’t necessarily mean being ritualistic or focussing on a particular religion. It can be anything that gives you strength, grounds you and makes you feel high on your energies.
Meditate

You must be aware of the benefits of meditation on your brain functioning and your body. It helps in healing and aids in gaining emotional balance. It not only provides you with the space to relax and rejuvenate but also helps to bring clarity in thoughts, improving communication skills. It is also a great way to gain inner stability. There are many ways you can choose from for meditating such as guided meditation, mindfulness, to name a few.
Introspect

Everyday do spend some time with yourself, you can also start by maintaining a journal. Introspection makes you build a close contact with your conscience which fosters better choices and decision making. Furthermore, helps in broadening your horizon and brings you closer to the centre within you.

A pinch of gratefulness
The focus on gratefulness is increasing these days because you are forgetting to notice the good that is in and around you but constantly engaging in self-loathing. Just pause for a moment or two and engage in all the things that you have in the here and now. It is one way in which you can grow at a faster rate in all the areas, may it be physical, psychological or spiritual. It cultivates your core and does not take much but just a few minutes of your day.

You have the ability and can choose to transform yourself as many times as you want because you do deserve the best. So, go ahead biohack yourself with some alternatives, you have never tried before.
Hope You Enjoyed Reading This.
